Triterras and Ukrainian commodity trading.
The country of Ukraine has historically been a major exporter of agricultural commodities like wheat (6th largest exporter in the world), corn (3rd largest exporter), sunflower oil (world’s largest exporter with over 35% share in global exports) and barley.
It would then come as no surprise that the recent war in Ukraine has significantly complicated the export trading market for Ukrainian soft commodities.
Triterras’ Vice President of Business Development (Europe & Americas), Filipe Pohlmann Gonzaga, has a front row seat on the developing situation.
Filipe speaks almost daily with the Ukrainian commodity traders, given his deep past experiences in the country where he was previously a featured speaker at the Grain Ukraine Conference and once operated an office in Odessa.
Filipe is leading Triterras’ initiatives to leverage our KRATOS platform and network of trade finance lenders, to address the current difficulties facing Ukrainian commodity traders by building out unique transaction structures and financing arrangements.
We will keep you posted on our progress.
