Axis Bank has signed a collaboration agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to make it easier for SMEs in India to participate in trade via environmental and socially sustainable supply chains. Under the deal, ADB will offer guarantees for the lending done by Axis Bank, thereby enabling the latter to amplify its support to SMEs in sectors identified as critical to sustainability. Revealing that this was his bank’s first supply chain finance transaction in India, ADB Trade and Supply Chain Head Steven Beck said it envisages contributing to developing business growth that addresses environmental, social, and governance priorities.
