Expo 2020 Dubai awarded contracts worth AED6.8 billion (US$1.85 billion) to SMEs, thereby making a significant contribution to a vital sector of Dubai’s vibrant economy. Out of the 3,245 suppliers awarded Expo 2020 Dubai contracts, about 66% (2,150) were SMEs, with 64% (1,390) of them being Dubai-based SMEs. Meanwhile, out of the 760 overseas SME suppliers, around 24% were from the UK, 16% from the US, and 4% each from France, India, and Australia. From retail stores to beverage and food outlets, construction firms to event organizers, SMEs played an important role in the success of Expo 2020 Dubai.
