The share of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in India’s gross bank credit has registered a sustained decline from 12.11% in December 2020 to 9.7% in April 2021, according to the latest data of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This fall in bank credit is being attributed to the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which broke out in India in March 2020.
