The SME Foundation has decided to establish five common facility centers (CFCs) in Bangladesh to provide heavy machinery to SME owners who cannot afford to buy them. Many SME owners currently outsource product finishing and other such work to big companies. This not only raises their cost of production but often results in subpar services. But the problem of finding funding for the CFCs persists. The SME Foundation had called for expressions of interest for a feasibility study and business development plan for CFCs from May 5 to 19. In response, 10 consulting firms had submitted proposals that the SME Foundation is now examining.
